Keep Your Family Safe This Fourth Of July

Sun, activities and fun! Independence Day is one week away and we have safety tips to ensure the fun stays in your holiday plans!

Tip 1 – Sunburn, heat rash, choking, bumps and bruises can all ruin the holiday fun! Brush up on your first aid and CPR skills and always have a first aid kit on hand!

Tip 2 – Make sure that the area you are lighting fireworks off is free of bushes, dry grass and leaves, trees, decorations and hazardous materials.

Tip 3 – After the fireworks fun is over, make sure the fireworks are free of heat and fire and always have a fire extinguisher on-hand! Even the smallest spark can ignite a fire!

Tip 4 – The 4th of July is fun for humans, but not as fun for pets. Instead of taking them to fireworks festivities, keep them safe and calm in a quiet, sheltered and escape-proof place at home.

Tip 5 – Picnics, concerts, festivals and carnivals are all things that make the 4th of July fun! However the fun can quickly turn scary if you become separated from your children. Agree on a meeting place, make sure they have your cell phone number and tell them to find an event employee if you become separated.

Tip 6 – If you are heading out of town (or even out of your neighborhood!) to celebrate the 4th of July, the AlertID mobile app will send local crime data and sex offender information directly to your smartphone.

Tip 7 – Water and alcohol don’t mix! If your 4th of July plans include a boat, leave the alcohol on dry land! (and always wear life jackets!)
